As IT trainers, we have influence over our Trainees but, for all of the technical knowledge and appreciation we may have gained, not the authority to compel them to use the tools we offer.
Which, it could be said, is the very definition of a consultant.
In this session, we'll introduce the roles, skills, and processes involved in the Peter Block model of consulting, and see how and why we can apply them to the IT training endeavor. We'll explore how empowering this paradigm shift can be -- in the way we view ourselves in our jobs, the quality of the relationships we create with those we aim to teach, and ultimately, how engaged our "clients" can become in reaching for the expertise we long to share.
