Throughout our careers at law firms, we have been told “Legal is different – we are a profession, not a business.” Although that may have been true in the past, many firms have recently found themselves under increased pressure from their clients and from within their own partner ranks to manage themselves more like the businesses they have traditionally served. To meet this challenge, several firms have imported managers, directors and C-level leaders from outside legal. At November’s PLTG meeting, a panel of recent arrivals from the corporate world will speak from their perspectives as legal industry outsiders about what the trend towards corporate management of law firms might mean for our training departments and our users.

Our panelists will be:

Jacqueline Catena
Senior Director, Talent Development and Acquisition
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP

Jodie Collins
Senior Director, Business Development & Marketing
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP

Sean Sullivan
Director of Information Technology
Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz

Carol Gerber of Gerber Amalgamated LLC will moderate the panel discussion.
